If this will be your first massage, I recommend receiving a Swedish technique. It is a lighter, more relaxing massage than a therapeutic technique. Please read the description in Services. If you've received massage previously, browse through the services offered, and if you're not sure, we can work it out prior to your session.
For the first session, there will be some paperwork to fill out, which you can download here or fill out when you arrive. Then I will do a brief intake to clarify the primary complaint you have, and if warranted, I will then do some physical evaluation (observation, palpation, etc) to determine the best course of treatment. This should take no more than 10 minutes, so arrive a little early for your first appointment.
Generally Swedish and Therapeutic massage techniques are performed with the client completely disrobed and modest draping is utilized. However, if you are uncomfortable with complete removal of clothing or are physically unable to disrobe, I can easily work around your comfort level. If you don't feel comfortable, the results are diminished. Myofascial release massage us performed with undergarments on for the protection of your modesty, since many of the strokes involve cleint participation.
Good things to avoid include eating a full meal or imbibing alcohol before a massage. It's also a good idea to increase your water intake before and after the session to help rid your body of toxins.
I am only accepting cash and personal check. I do not take insurance, nor am I affiliated with State of the Art, so no payments will be accepted through their office.
I am not affiliated with any insurance companies or clinics, so I am not accepting insurance. However, I can arrange to provide you with a copy of your treatment note to submit to you insurance company if you'd like to try to submit a claim. Please make certain you provide me with a valid mailing address on the client intake form, request that a copy of the note be sent to you, and I will mail it to you after the note is completed, or I can give you the treatment note when you come in for your next session.
If you'd like to submit the cost of the massage to your FSA/HSA, let me know and I can prepare a specified reciept for you. Just note that for this to be covered, you usually need a doctor's prescription to send along with the claim receipt (you don't have to bring it to me.)
If you need to cancel, please contact me as soon as possible. I have a 24 hour cancellation policy (see Additional Information). If you are running late, please call me at (703) 434-3316 and let me know how late you'll be. I will do my best to ensure you get as much of your scheduled treatment as time allows or if it would be better to reschedule.
In the event of bad weather, please call me at (703) 434-3316 or email me at mbrunberg@massagebymeghann.com to see if I'll be receiving clients that day. If I feel it is unsafe for anyone to drive, I will call you well before your appointment and we can make any necessary arrangements. School closings do not correlate with my business operations.
Due to the deeper nature of most of my work, I request that no one under 16 books an appointment. I will, on a case-by-case basis, work with individuals under 16. For any minors (under 18) receiving work, I require a parent or guardian to be present in the waiting room during the treatment.
I do! These make great gifts, especially for the person who has everything already or for those individuals who never seem to make time for themselves! To purchase a gift certificate, you can contact me via the Contact Us form, email me at mbrunberg@massagebymeghann.com, or call me at 703-434-3316 to arrange to meet at State of the Art Physical Therapy clinic so we can complete the transaction.
To make the purchase faster, just use the form in the Contact Us page, tell me what you would like on the certificate (who it's for, how much/which services, any message you'd like it to say) and I can prepare the certificate for you prior to the meeting.
